|STAR Update from Tournament Director Rad Trascher - July 6th|
|Friday, 06 July 2012 12:58|
One more tagged redfish has been caught! Red Snapper division will be closing soon.
Hopefully this holiday week, you’ve been able to hit the water to experience some great south Louisiana fishing! We have over 2 months of fishing competition left in STAR and plenty of prizes still up for grabs.
Another one of those 50 tagged redfish was caught in Hackberry, but like the previous anglers, he was not registered for the tournament. So that brand new Chevy Silverado, donated by the Super Chevy Dealers, is still looking for a new home. The first entrant to catch a 2012 tagged redfish will win it and the next nine will win 21’ Nautic Stars with 4-Stroke Mercury Outboards and Mike Gerald’s trailers.
In other division news, the Gulf Council has extended the Red Snapper season until 12:01 a.m. on July 17th. The scales for the Whitney Bank Red Snapper Division of STAR will close at the same time. Right now a fish over 27 lbs is leading the way but you now have over two weeks to beat it.
And if you want to increase your chances of winning a prize, be sure to enter your kids and grandkids. Thanks to Academy Sports + Outdoors their entry fee is free. They just have to be a CCA member. Once they register, they can enter a trout and/or a flounder over 14 inches and their name will be put in a hopper to win one of four 14’ Weldbilt boats with a 15hp Mercury 4-Stroke. They are also eligible to win all of the adult prizes as well. So get them entered!
There are plenty divisions other than tagged Redfish and Red Snapper, so check out the complete list of divisions and our updated leaderboard at CCASTAR.com. One of the divisions that is producing many weigh forms but is still wide open is the kayak division sponsored by Hobie. There are four great Hobie Outbacks up for grabs as well as a bonus drawing for TFO rods.
Don’t miss out on participating in two rodeos at the same time! Fish STAR and the many other rodeos going on along the coast! You can weigh the same fish in STAR and other tournaments. Just stop into one of our many weigh stations across the coast before heading to the other tournament scales.
Remember you have to be in to win and you can sign up here, over the phone, or at any Academy Sports + Outdoors locations across Louisiana. Also please take a look at our sponsor page, we could not host the largest and richest tournament on the Louisiana coast without their help.
