Academy Sports + Outdoors is joining with CCA Louisiana to make it easier than ever to register for 2012 STAR Tournament.

Anglers will now be able to register for the tournament at any Louisiana Academy location. Fishermen can also register by calling CCA’s 800 number, through the STAR website and at weigh stations across the state.

Academy will also serve as the title sponsor of the tournament’s Youth Division.

“We are very pleased to have the support of such a great company,” said CCA Director Rad Trascher. “Their backing will make an already great event even better.”

In other news, the 2012 STAR will feature a new trout division for anglers fishing Mississippi waters.

Any CCA member (from any state) that has a CCA Louisiana STAR ticket is eligible to compete if they are fishing in Miss. coastal waters for trout. There will be numerous weigh stations across the Miss. Coast, and a boat, motor and trailer package for the winner will be announced soon.

The CCA Louisiana/Mercury Outboards STAR Tournament lasts from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is one of the longest saltwater fishing tournaments in the country. Started in 1995 as a membership generator, STAR heads into its 17th year offering more than $500,000 in prizes.

CCA will be announcing more exciting changes to STAR in the coming months.
